The e-Smmelws project: m-health in pregnancy care
Our e-Smmelws solution enables enhanced prenatal care in private medical practices, integrated into local pregnancy care protocols: teleconsultation using smart devices. When the physician providing the antenatal care recommends a closer, more frequent, follow-up (even in the case of a healthy pregnancy). Not to forget that if the pregnant woman is at risk, she will need more and intensified care, which can be made more effective and reassuring by remote access and valid data from smart devices.
Our program does not replace the face-to-face visits prescribed by the local professional protocol (ultrasound, gynecological examination), but it helps in the interim to provide prenatal care and, if necessary, other medical care (e.g. blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar, weight control, etc.). In addition, it is also useful to estimate the need for a face-to-face visit in case of unexpected problems (e.g. by performing an e-CTG).
For telecare, 10 different valid smart devices have been integrated with the e-Smmelws package to monitor several physiological parameters.
